A method for determining the degree of development of the SD variation field on magnetically quiet days is proposed. This method takes into account the asymmetry in diurnal variations of the Y-component of the magnetic field, arising during the simultaneous development of SD and Sq current systems. Using a specific example, it is shown that SD variations also occur on international quiet days.
