Scientific paper

The paper calculates electron energy distribution functions, with detailed allowance made for elementary collision processes of electrons with N2, O2, and O in ionospheric gas mixtures under the effect of a source of high-energy electrons. The results are presented in a convenient form, making possible the easy determination of the energy contribution of the electrons in each process of interaction with gas particles. Formulas are given which are valid for ionospheric gases of different compositions in the 90-300-km height range.
