The spatial oscillations of a gravity-oriented satellite having elastic elements are considered, and sufficient conditions for stability of steady motion in a circular orbit are derived, valid for elastic satellites of arbitrary configuration. It is shown that the equations of the small oscillations of elastic objects whose inertia tensor in a first approximation retains its diagonal form relative to the main axes of the undeformed state, as in the case of a rigid satellite, decompose into mutually independent motions in and outside of the orbital plane.
