Observations of four dwarf novae obtained during the transition states between maximum and minimum light are analyzed. UBV photometry and scanner measurements of the H-alpha line and continuum of SS Cyg are used along with UBV measurements of AH Her to study the rise-to-maximum sequence; the normal decline and the standstill are examined through simultaneous photometric measurements in four wavelengths (ubrV) of the two cited novae plus AB Dra and Z Cam. A plot of the SS Cyg H-alpha fluxes as a function of phase from minimum to maximum indicates a large decrease in the flux just prior to a large increase that peaks at maximum light. The broadband U-B colors show a similar but less pronounced effect for AH Her. It is found that the shape of the flux distribution and the rate of decline after maximum for SS Cyg begin to change at a magnitude about halfway between minimum and maximum, where the hot spot and secondary could begin to contribute appreciably to the emission. The flux distributions at standstill for AB Dra and Z Cam are shown to be very similar to the distributions at maximum light.
