A method for detecting compact galaxies is proposed which is valid over a wide range of integrated stellar magnitudes and is independent of whether an investigated object is actually a galaxy. The method is based on comparing the ratio of diameters in two equidensity images of a galaxy of given stellar magnitude with that for stars of the same magnitude. As an example, the method is applied to Zwicky Cluster 1710.4+6401.
