Arising as a result of scattering by interstellar particles, detectable halos can surround celestial X-ray sources. The van-de-Hulst's formulation of the theory of anomalous diffraction has been used to construct intensity profiles of X-ray halos for different size distributions of the grain population. The numerical calculations demonstrate that X-ray halos could be a tracer of the size distribution of the cosmic grains.
