With visible photometry of ~25 small main-belt asteroids, we propose to leverage two recent breakthroughs in the study of asteroids: the discovery of binary asteroids that can be used for remote measures of asteroid mass and thereby density; and the identification of very young groups of asteroids formed in recent collisions. Although the binary and young asteroid studies are separately motivated, we package these projects into a single proposal because they all rely on the same observational technique and make optimal use of the observing nights when carried out together. First, we propose to support proposed Spitzer observations of the second of two binary asteroid systems. Combined with our completed HST measurements of the binary orbital periods, the observations will lead to the densities of these ~4 km main-belt asteroids. Second, we propose to support GO-2 Spitzer observations of young (8.3+/-0.5 Myr) C-type asteroids. These observations are designed to test for age or size correlations with albedo; they will complement our analogous Spitzer GO-1 observations (supported by NOAO visible observations through programs 04B-0363 and 05A-0449) of young (5.8+/-0.2 Myr) S-type asteroids. Finally, we will enlarge our sample of spin periods and lightcurve amplitudes, and UBVRI colors for young asteroids, to better constrain models of asteroid collisions and Yarkovsky acceleration, and family memberships..
