In the present study, we are basing on the assumption that the plate wedging-in effect leads to a considerable restructuring and accumulation of lithospheric masses in the vicinities of the subduction zones (mechanism of "mass injection" into the astenosphere with a subsequent resorption of the masses at long geological timescales). This implies that the components of the Earth tensor of inertia, its rotation, and the position of its center of masses must experience secular variations.
