The author systematically investigates the formation of double degenerates (DDs) via binary interactions. He considers three evolutionary channels leading to the formation: stable Roche lobe overflow (RLOF) plus common envelope (CE), CE plus CE, exposed core plus CE. The author carries out Monte-Carlo simulations and examines the effects of model parameters (tidal enhancement of the wind, mass transfer efficiency in the stable RLOF, CE ejection efficiency, the initial mass-ratio distribution) on the results.
