Several types of imperfections have been identified in the MDI instrument and it has become clear that the resulting systematic errors in the results limit our ability to make inferences about the Sun. In this poster we will start by describing some of these problems and how we have succeeded in quantifying them. We will then apply the corresponding corrections to MDI data and show how various results are improved. In particular we show the improvements to normal mode and ring-diagram results and discuss how this will improve our inferences about the Sun. The MDI project is supported by NASA grant NAG5-10483 to Stanford University.
