The effect of impact erosion on the orbital evolution of interplanetary dust particles is discussed. Impact erosion can be expressed in terms of reduction in the radius of particles ds/dt = -epsilon exp D s exp 1.5/r exp 2.3, where epsilon exp D is approximately equal to 10 exp -6 cm exp -0.5/yr, if the falloff of particle density as r exp -1.3 is assumed. The effect of the impact erosion can be neglected in comparison to the corpuscular sputtering for particles of radii less than 0.001 cm.
