The serendipitous discovery is reported of a relatively low redshift (z
= 0.0875) 'E + A' (poststarburst) galaxy. The galaxy is remarkable for
its extremely high luminosity, strong Balmer absorption lines, and
morphology, indicating that a merger precipitated the starburst about 1
Gyr ago.
