The spectra of the QSOs 0952-01, 0420-388, and 2206-199 covering the spectral range from 3850 to 6600 A and the redshifts from 2.17 to 4.43 are used to investigate the void structure in the early universe. Assuming that the void structure is homogeneous on a large scale, the analysis of the separation of hydrogen clouds should be compatible with the void sizes observed at small redshifts (less than 0.04). Agreement was found if the analysis is based on Friedmann-Lemaitre models with H(0) = 90 km/(s x Mpc) and with a positive cosmological constant, which provides a cosmic age in the range of 30 billion years. The results are not compatible with a homogeneous void structure, if H(0) = 50 km/(s x Mpc). There is no evidence for any systematic internal dynamical evolution of the void-structure besides the Hubble expansion after the time of Ly-alpha absorption corresponding to a redshift of 4.4. It is concluded that the void structure was established in the early universe at a redshift greater than 4.4.
