The solution of particle transport problems described by Fokker-Planck equations is addressed. It is pointed out that such equations are formally equivalent to coupled systems of stochastic ordinary differential equations which can be resolved very efficiently in computational form. Stochastic simulations are presented for the illustrative case of collision-dominated electron transport, and compared with analytical solutions obtained in the mean scattering approximation, and by spatial integration of the governing equation. As expected, pitch-angle dispersion smooths the spatial form of the electron energy deposition rate, but more critically, the spatial form of the energy deposition is shown to be very sensitive to the initial conditions.
