A model to calculate the continuum radiation emerging from accretion disks is presented. The method solves the disk equations in a self-consistent way after the basic assumptions are made. The comparison with observations shows good agreement over a wide range of wavelengths. The reasons for the success of the model are analyzed and it is shown that the basic reason for this achievement is the fact that the solution is selfconsistent.
