The authors report VLA positions for the H2O masers associated with the young visible stars PV Cep and V1057 Cyg. Using these data as well as published results on LkHα 234 and V645 Cyg, they conclude that H2O maser spots can be produced and pumped at relatively large distances (≡1016cm) from the visible exciting star. Remote pumping of H2O masers is known to occur in the case of luminous, heavily obscured stars and the results suggest that this process also exists for intermediate luminosity (102 - 103L_sun;) young stars.
