For a two-dimensional, semiinfinite, rectangular medium which scatters isotropically, a new integral equation for the source function at the boundary is obtained by using a double-integral formulation of Ambarzumian's method. The incident radiation is cosine-varying and collimated. The medium is assumed to be homogeneous, nonemitting and to have a refractive index of unity. The double- and single-integral formulations are compared, and the relative merits of the two approaches are discussed.
