We request 2 US1 and 2 US2 shifts to study main sequence B stars with abnormally strong winds. So far, only one group of stars has been found whose low dispersion spectra indicate such winds. These are in the open cluster NGC 6231. Analysis of a high dispersion spectrum of one of these stars shows that it does indeed have a strung wind and suggests that an overabundance of carbon is responsible. The main sequence B stars in NGC 6231 also have the smallest galactocentric radius of any observed. It may be that their strong winds are indicative of a galactic carbon abundance gradient. We propose to verify our results for NGC 6231 by observing additional members at high dispersion and to survey, at low dispersion, main sequence B stars in other open clusters with galactocentric radii similar to that for NGC 6231.
