We propose to obtain nearly simultaneous optical and ultraviolet spectrophotometry of several narrow line radio galaxies. These objects are a subclass of the group of active galactic nuclei which are characterized by a featureless continuum and narrow emission lines, but which have very weak or no broad lines or Fe II emission. As a result, it will be possible to make reliable measurements of intensities of the narrow emission lines with low resolution IUE data. The weak Fe II emission will facilitate measurement of the shape of the optical to ultraviolet-continuum without contamination from the many ultraviolet lines which cover this region. By combining optical, ultraviolet, and x-ray observations of the featureless continuum with a composite optical and ultraviolet--emission line spectrum, we will have the type of information needed for comparison with photoionization calculations. Such calculations will be performed and are intended to determine some characteristics of the emitting gas and to check whether photoionization by the featureless continuum can fully account for the emission line spectrum. Finally, direct examination of the far ultraviolet continuum will allow us to examine the speculation that narrow line radio galaxies may have an inner broad line region which has been obscured by dust along the line of sight to the central engine.
