It has been found that two-point angular autocorrelation functions of very faint galaxies can serve as powerful probes of the luminosity evolution of galaxies as well as the large-scale structure of the universe. Ellis (1980) has investigated the correlations of galaxy samples fainter than B = 21. The quantity A(omega) of the autocorrelation functions was found to be smaller than the value predicted on the basis of models. Other studies were reported by Phillipps et al. (1981), and Shanks et al. (1980). The present investigation has the objective to extend the work of the Durham group by using superior 4 m plate data and by adopting a different set of evolution models. The obtained results indicate that the correlation function of samples as faint as 23rd mag show a power law with an index fully consistent with the value -0.8 found in brighter surveys.
