We present 13 near-infrared (NIR; 0.7-2.5 micron) spectra from Type Ib supernovae (SNe Ib) obtained at the IRTF using the SpeX instrument. Stripped envelope SNe are distinguished from other core-collapse events (Type II SNe) due to the lack of hydrogen in their early spectra. SNe Ib exhibit distinct HeI lines while Type Ic supernovae lack both H and He. We show that NIR spectra are effective for early and accurate detection of HeI. Our sample includes two time series of repeated observations from individual SNe Ib which enables us to examine the development and evolution of spectral features. The behavior of HeI lines will contribute to understanding of the nature of the progenitor and provide insight to the mass, composition, and behavior of the circumstellar envelope. We discuss evidence for HI in the data and describe the detection and behavior of emission features from permitted lines of MgI and SiI. We explore lines that contribute to the large absorption feature that is found near 1.02 micron in most stripped-envelope supernovae and we compare some characteristics of SN Ib spectra to NIR spectra from SNe Ic.
