High-resolution spectra obtained with the coude auxiliary telescope of the La Silla ESO show that HD 157246 (Gamma Ara) lacks the diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) belonging to the 5797-A family. The present results support the division into families proposed by Krelowski and Walker (1987), and make less likely the conclusion by Josafatsson and Snow (1987) that 5780-A and 5797-A belong to the same family. Support is also provided for the suggestion of Westerlund and Krelowski (1988) that DIB components do not necessarily originate in all the interstellar clouds defined by the DIB components.
