Lowell Observatory's Predoctoral Fellowship Program is now in its third year and we are pleased to announce continuing opportunities for thesis research with our staff in Flagstaff, Arizona. This program is designed to provide unique opportunities to graduate students in good standing currently enrolled at Ph.D. granting institutions. Several projects are available now in collaboration with Lowell astronomers, spanning the areas of instrumentation, observation, and theory. Construction of our new 4.2 meter Discovery Channel Telescope provides particularly exciting thesis topics through currently funded first light instrumentation, to be constructed at Lowell. Student research is expected to lead to the completion of a thesis dissertation appropriate for graduation at the doctoral level at the student's home institution. Potential topics include: the nature and kinematics of icy bodies in the outer Solar System, searches for and characterization of extra-solar planets, low- and high-mass star formation, and dynamical studies of dwarf irregular galaxies.
