We present preliminary results from our redshift survey of 836 infrared sources covering the redshift range z = 0 - 0.5 in two deep fields observed with the Spitzer Space Telescope and XMM: the Lockman Hole and the Subaru XMM Deep Field. This dataset, in conjunction with our published data in the First Look Survey, is used to compute the infrared luminosity function of galaxies overcoming the main limitations of other published studies with heavy reliance on photometric redshifts, AGN contamination, and cosmic variance.
