Recent observations of zodiacal light, especially the first measurements from space probes, have given a clearer picture of interplanetary dust. The spatial distribution now is reasonably well known from the outer corona, where the dust grains sublimate at a few solar radii, to the asteroid belt. It is possible to construct an acceptable model of zodiacal light on the basis of this spatial distribution and the size distribution of interplanetary dust derived from lunar impact craters. On the other hand, the physical characteristics of the dust particles are still under discussion and their dynamics not well understood.
