A large and a small elliptical galaxy appearing to be interconnected by a long straight bridge, which could be a radial jet from the larger galaxy, has been detected in the Palomar Sky Survey. The system appears as part of a galactic cluster in the constellation Hydra. A comparison of red and blue prints has shown the smaller galaxy to be extremely blue, and image enlargement suggests that the larger galaxy may possess chaotic filaments. Spectroscopy of the system in the range 3700 to 7000 A reveals strong narrow emission lines from three neighboring galaxies, indicating abnormal nebular emission. It is speculated that the smaller galaxy has either been ejected from or has passed through the larger galaxy, however the spectrum of the third galaxy has not been accounted for.
