One of the many commonly used techniques to study the physical properties of AGN is through variability, which typically ranges on time scales from days to years. We present initial results of an investigation of variability-selected AGN in the GOODS-S/CDFS field to study the characteristics of multiwavelength SEDs. The sample comprises the variability-detected sources of the Trevese et al. 2008 study. The SEDs and other characteristic properties of these AGN are used to delineate the parameter space imposed by the selection strategy, which involves X-ray-, MIPS- and optically-selected AGN. The results will shed some new light onto the fraction of variable AGN in differently selected AGN samples and will also give some clues on the nature of optically obscured (i.e. dust-enshrouded) AGN as well as intrinsically faint AGN.
