Tidal analysis of the 600 variable stars in the Sculptor galaxy using the catalog of van Agt (1978) shows that about 10% of those stars are clearly extratidal and are found in a flattened distribution, inclined to the principal axis of the Sculptor galaxy. If the extratidal stars are in retrograde orbits about Sculptor, whose motion is direct, a dynamical explanation is proposed, from which the orbit plane of an extragalactic object is deduced. Other dynamical consequences are briefly discussed, and the mass of our Galaxy is found to be 220 billion solar masses times the M/L ratio of Sculptor. Finally, it is pointed out that distant satellites of Uranus should be found not near the equatorial plane of Uranus but in retrograde orbits near the plane of the ecliptic.
