Questions concerning the stabilization or stability of differential equations have been considered by Baumgarte and Stiefel (1974). A method described by Stiefel and Scheifele (1971) can be used to perform time transformations in the homogeneous Hamiltonian formalism. This method is employed to obtain a Hamilton function which, when transformed with respect to action and angle variables, is linear regarding the action variables. The frequencies of the system are now a priori constants and stable equations of motion can be obtained.
