A study of 156 ultraviolet photographs of Venus taken 1927-1975 indicates that the dark formations have a retrograde rotation with a mean synodic period of 3.9952 plus or minus 0.0001 days. The Y-shaped and psi-shaped formations have been stable over the period of observation. The mean difference in longitude between the Y and the psi formations is 100 deg plus or minus 2 deg.
