Scientific paper

Albeit focussing on astrometry, the ESA Gaia mission will provide
important scientific results for many other areas of contemporaneous
astronomy and astrophysics. In this paper we discuss the application of
Gaia results to analysis of the optical counterparts of celestial
high-energy sources.
