Results are reported for aperture-synthesis observations of 21-cm H I absorption toward the galactic sources NGC 2024 (W12), Orion A, M17, and W49. The observational techniques, data reduction, and Gaussian analysis procedure employed are described, and 21-cm continuum maps of each source are examined. Models of the cloud distribution are constructed for each source, the data are compared with previous observations of molecular absorption lines, and no evidence is found for wide absorption components in either Orion A or W12. The results show that: (1) an H I concentration at -3 km/s in the direction of Orion A is probably associated physically with an H II-H I boundary; (2) the typical range of neutral hydrogen mass is 3 to 25 solar masses in the directions of Orion A and W12; (3) rather dense neutral regions are located near W12 and Orion A; and (4) W49 B is at least about 12.5 kpc distant.
