High resolution International Ultraviolet Explorer spectra of the three SdO-stars HD 127493, HD 49798 and BD + 75 deg 325 were used to derive an upper limit for the carbon abundance. The C IV resonance line doublet at lambda 1548/1551 was analyzed by means of non-LTE line formation in the two level approximation. All three SdO-stars were found to be carbon-deficient by at least a factor of ten (relative to the Sun).
