Reimers-type steady mass loss is shown to have a modest effect on Mira
variable evolution. Up to the point where envelope ejection due to
pulsational instability occurs, only a small fraction of the envelope
can be lost as a result of steady mass loss. The effects of steady mass
loss on Mira variable statistics are discussed.
