Photoelectric surface photometry in three broad-band colors obtained
from drift scan observations along the major and minor axes of M31 is
reported. A limit of less than 0.01 mag/kpc is derived for the radial
gradient in color over the inner 8 kpc of the disk of the Galaxy. The
implications of this constant disk color are discussed.
