Studies of the spectra of stars other than the sun which show large, cool zones that could be similar to sunspots are discussed. The mechanism of sunspots, the cycle of star activity, and the methods used to study starspots are examined. It is suggested that starspots are most prominent in the RS CVn binaries. Also, the use of Doppler imaging, color mapping, and the maximum entropy method to study star variations is considered.
