The radiative transfer in an M-giant atmosphere (T eff = 3800 K, lg g = 1.5) is studied for a small UV region of the spectrum (wavelengths in the range of 225.86-225.96 nm). Two models of the red giant atmosphere are used. In the first one, the temperature decreases monotonically toward the outer layers; the second model includes the chromosphere. The mean characteristics of the field are calculated using the absorption averaging method. It is shown that the radiation field formed in the M-giant chromosphere does not penetrate into the photosphere.
