The problem of binary or more complicated structures of asteroids is considered on the basis of investigations reported during the period from 1901 to March 1993. Various techniques of observation-occultation of stars by asteroids, photometrical light curves, speckle interferometry, and radiolocation of asteroids - point to the duality of some asteroids. A satellite of asteroid 243 Ida was detected in observations performed from the spacecraft Galileo. Frequency analysis of photometric observations of asteroids permits one to find the rotation periods of components of binary asteroids. The complex structure of comets, as well as the occurrence of double craters, are indirect evidence of the existence of binary asteroid. The theory of gravitation shows the stability of asteroidal satellite orbits. A list of possible binary asteroids is given.
