A two-layer moon model is used to examine the relation between the uncertainty of the moon's mean moment of inertia, delta(I/Ma-squared), and that of the core density. The model involves a mantle, which obeys Roche's law for the density distribution, and a homogeneous Fe or Fe-FeS core. For a delta(I/Ma-squared) uncertainty of 0.0023, a core radius of 450 km is consistent with the core density limitation of about 1 g/cu cm. The results suggest that the ratio of the mass of the moon to that of the earth in the IAU (1976) system of astronomical constants will become a deducible constant.
