The integrated intensity of absorption bands near 3 microns due to the presence of hydrous minerals has been measured as a means of determining the degree of weathering of several Antarctic meteorites. The Allan Hills meteorites considered revealed stronger integrated intensities than the Yamato meteorites, suggesting that they are more weathered. Cosmic-ray-produced nuclide results indicate that the Allan Hill meteorites have greater terrestrial ages than other Antarctic meteorites, in agreement with terrestrial age data.
