Using a modification of the mixing-length theory of convection, an evolutionary model of the present sun and its five-minute oscillations of the spherical harmonic degree, l = 0, 1, 2, 10, and 20 are computed. In the interval 2,000-4,000 microHz, the oscillation frequencies of the modified model are 5-15 microHz greater than those for a solar model constructed on the basis of the standard convection description. This effect is independent of the value of l. These theoretical frequencies are in better agreement with observational data. The remaining differences may be caused by an imprecise description of the outer part of the sun's convection zone.
