The authors have obtained high-resolution spectropolarimetry of the quasar OI 287 in an attempt to determine the nature of its high polarization. The data are consistent with the broad Balmer lines being polarized the same as the continuum and the forbidden lines at zero intrinsic polarization. It is proposed that OI 287 represents a normal quasar in which both the broad-line region and the continuum source are completely obscured from direct view, being seen only by scattered radiation. The apparent rarity of this type of high-polarization quasar may be explained by the thinness of the obscuring disk.
