Strömgren photometry for 40 A and F type stars belonging to the Selected Area 95 is used to derive the distance of the dark cloud L 1569. Inspection of the uvbyß diagrams shows clearly that several stars almost have the same reddening, suggesting the presence of an absorbing layer in front of them. From the E(b-y)-distance data, a distance of 130±20 pc is suggested for this cloud, which locates, at least in part, the IRAS infrared cirrus source that lies at the same direction. The star HD 25154 is suspected to be a pre-main-sequence star inside L 1569.
