A brief history of the development of steady-state cosmology is presented. The early search for solutions describing an empty but expanding universe, the question of the age of the universe, and early cosmological models are discussed. The origin of heavy elements, the Hubble number counts of galaxies, and the discovery of the microwave background radiation are examined.
