NATIVE gibberellin-like substances have been found in peelings of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tubers1-3, using Phinney's dwarf maize bioassay4. These substances were shown in one report1 to be more active on dwarf maize-5 than on dwarf-1. In another report, extracts stimulated elongation of dwarfs -1, -3, and -5 equally3. This communication presents evidence for the occurrence in potato tubers of new neutral and acidic substances exhibiting gibberellin-like activity.
