It is shown that nonlinear interaction of the waves excited in a relativistic plasma flowing along curved field lines in the magnetosphere of a neutron star leads to an effective energy conversion into transverse oscillations capable of leaving the magnetosphere. The emissivity, spectrum, frequency band and the directivity pattern of generated radiation are determined. A good agreement between the theory and observational data is demonstrated.
