The rapid development of web technologies based on a paradigm popularly known as AJAX now allows one to create full-featured graphical interfaces that only require a relatively modern JavaScript-enabled browser to implement. Such interfaces are thus very portable and can run on devices ranging from iPhones to Windows PCs to Linux workstations. At the MMT we have been actively developing interfaces to our control systems using AJAX-based web pages as well as browser plugin-based technologies such as Java and Flash. In this paper we share some of our experiences with tools used to implement these technologies and some of the issues we have run into when implementing them.
