The energy principle is used to calculate the parameters of an n = 3 polytrope to nine significant figures. The physical meaning of the numerical parameters is discussed, and an expression for the central pressure of the polytrope in terms of its mass and central density is given. The correction to the total energy of the polytrope for general-relativistic effects is determined.
