Jovian decametric radio wave emissions observed at Goddard Space Flight Center from October 19 to December 31, 1974, and data obtained at Mt. Zao observatory, Japan, from July 14 to December 6, 1975, are used to investigate the relationship between Jovian decametric radio waves (JDW) and the geomagnetic disturbance index. Cross-correlations indicate that enhancement of the JDW recurs with a period of approximately 25 days. Also indicated are rotating sector boundaries of the interplanetary magnetic field, which encounter the earth's magnetosphere, producing geomagnetic field disturbances, and after an interval, hit the Jovian magnetosphere. Cases are also found in which the order of the encounter is opposite. Delay is found to occur due to succeeding or alternating interactions, and components to the control of decametric radio wave emissions associated with the turbulent regions include short-term and long-term time dependencies.
