Detailed numerical calculations are presented of the cooling and destruction of collisionally heated interstellar dust grains that are swept up by adiabatic supernova blast waves. The infrared luminosity that is emitted from the interior of the supernova cavity is calculated, and the effect of the energy loss on the evolution of the remnant is studied. Recent observations of several young supernova remnants are briefly discussed.
